They don’t even teach history anymore. It’s all revision and how the evil imperial white man raped the land and stole from the natives. *yawn*

outstanding movie. But very misunderstood. It is not about color…it is about freedom and the right to live how you choose. Black men were not the only ones to fight for their freedom. Whites fought this war along side them….I see MEN wanting freedom….not black and white….but brave men fighting evil…..

I wish they would have made an alternative ending where Morgan Freeman would storm the fort Rambo style and capture the it all by himself, cause he’s Morgan Freeman.

On a more serious note, this is one of my favorite movies. I didn’t want it to end. The acting is superb, the music is absolutely amazing, and it really makes you appreciate the sacrifice that was made by these men.

this movie is one of my favs, its crazy to think how many men black and white died in this war and how much they sacrificed to keep this country whole and yet still in this day and age their is still incredible amounts of racial tension and racism

Of all the great endings: Braveheart, Schindler’s List, To Kill a Mockingbird, Field of Dreams, and the list goes on, this is by far my favorite. The music and acting is incredibly powerful. The scene with Broderick looking out at the ocean then back at the smoking and booming blasts of the canons that fortell of his fate so captures the irony of war…amidst all of nature’s beauty and tranquility, we can create such despair. Chilling. Great movie in every aspect!!

The soundtrack on this was excellent. The movie was outstanding.

Attacking the fort with infantry was foolish. During the entire campaign the Union lost 1,511 men and the Confederates lost 179 men. Almost a 10-1 ratio.

My GGGG-Grandfather served in the 6th Connecticut, Captain of Company B. (Benjamin Franklin Prouty). The 6th Conn lost 141 men out of 300. 76th PA lost 208 men. 54th Mass lost 256 men.

The Confederates had 1,700 men in the fort.

I feel the same way about that scene. What a great performance to show the despair his character must have felt knowing the fate that awaited him.
