You should read his biography in wikipedia. Apparently he had singing lessons in Italy and sang in an amateur opera company before this contest. He had to stop his singing carrier because of an accident. But of course he didn’t mention that during BGT. Given all that I believe Connie deserved to win that contest instead of him.

yeah, i heard that he had singing lessons but not as a pro… anyway i agree with you, Connie deserved it more, because she was pure talent. But if the winner had to sing in the royal Variety then i think that Paul Potts is more suitable.
By the way, Why do people give our comments negative ´votes’? it’s not like we say he stinks, right? at least I don’t think so… :(

He butchered that song. If you prefer this over Bocelli…. then…. good god.

he has an english accent when he sings in italian- he needs to get rid of that if he wants to make it big in opera.

Actually, after listening to it again, he does really good when he’s singing the longer notes, which is where his voice really shows through. It only seemed bad during the parts which sounds like talking.

I suppose that everyone has their own style of singing. But in my opinion, this isn’t quite his style. Nessun Dorma, on the other hand, is definitely his style. He owned that song… But I think the coolest thing about Paul Potts is his story.

Imagine how thrilling his voice was in real life. As the judges gave Paul a standing ovation, that says it all. I compared Paul to Andrea Boccelli by listening to both videos, and was most amazed at how good Paul is. The world has discovered another great voice.

Good voice, horrible audio. I think some of the complaints are confusing the two.

I think he really does wonders for the opera piece – I am listening to the Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman version to compare. His voice puts a bump in my throat….truely beautiful!

idk why everyones coming with bocellis version , well he is equally powerful in singing the song, and hes more precise and Paul Potts not, but when i hear this guy sing its a lot more amazing and thrilling than Bocelli’s version
