Truly the voice of an angel. Mesmerizing.
Love It
Wow, ever since I first heard this song, I have been listening to it over and over again, I just can’t get enough of it. Fortunately, I speak a bit of Irish Gaelic so I am able to catch the drift of what is being said – sigh … I really love this song!
I have been studying the language for a bit. One thing I found is that coming from a background where all my grandparents spoke the language I had an appreciation for the rhythm of the language because of the way my relatives spoke English. Their English was not standard English, but instead was heavily influenced by Gaelic.
Julie, ich liebe Dich
!
Very lovely performance… Julie Fowlis is great!
GreenLantern1916, do tell us what the drift is of what this song is about!!! Please!!
Great performance from the girl from North Uist and the lovely girl from Shetland. Would love to see her do “Eilean Uibhist Mo Ruin ”
My Grandmother was from “Clachan Loch E`Port” on North Uist, I just love the island and of course Julie and her wonderful music.

Juile is touring the US RIGHT NOW! and Jenna is with her! GO see them, that’s an order!
Julie Fowlis is from an area in Sotland where they still speak Gaelic. Gaelic is her first language.
this is amazingly beautiful music and makes me cry every time I listen….now I wish I’d stayed awake during Irish lessons when I was in school….maybe if Julie had been teaching it
That would be Scotishs gaelic. You should head over to visit our Islands for the Hebridean Celtic Festival
I’d love to; especially as I’m a musician myself….playing guitar and bouzouki..but I live in Poland these days and haven’t got the time this year…but maybe one year……you can check me out if you like….leokeating/SoClose here on youtube…cheers

Lyrics Part 4
Ged a tha mi ‘n seo an Colla
B’ e mo thoil a dhol a Rùm
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
Deoch slàinte le fear an tùir
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
Agus as a sin a dh’ Uibhist
Nan d’ fhuair mi mo ghuidhe leam
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
Deoch slàinte le fear an tùir
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
Lyrics Part 3
Fhir a chunnaic air an t-sàil i
Beannaich an long bhàn ’s a criùdh’
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
Deoch slàinte le fear an tùir
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
Beannaich a cruinn àrd ’s a h-acfhuinn
A cuid acraichean ’s a siùil
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
Deoch slàinte le fear an tùir
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
Lyrics Part 2
Chunnacas bàt’ air an fhairge
‘S an làimh dhearg air an stiùir
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
Deoch slàinte le fear an tùir
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
Chunnaic mi dol seach’ an caol i
‘S badan fraoich ’s an t-slait shiùil
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
Deoch slàinte le fear an tùir
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
Lyrics Part 1
Òladh neo na òladh càch i
Biodh i làn aig ceann a’ bhùird
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
Deoch slàinte le fear an tùir
Biodh an deoch seo ‘n làimh mo rùin
