strong>Xoom 2 aims for slate success
Following a lukewarm reception to its original Xoom tablet, Motorola has tweaked some and gone again. A 10.1-inch display sits atop an eye-catching, angular design with Google’s tabletoptimised Honeycomb operating system and a snappy 1.2GHz dualcore CPU keeping things running smoothly. At just &8mm it can also boast of making the iPad 2 look grotesquely obese.

Digital refuseniks, this one’s for you: the first “camcorder” to be produced by analogue fetishist Lomography, the retro fanatic behind the Diana camera. It’s an endearingly boxy, 35mm film camera that shoots at a less than Avatar-esque four frames per second and requires you to turn the film using a hand crank. So, whereas Lomography’s cameras recall the hazy, groovy 70s, this bids to return coffee shop-dwelling hipsters to the age of the silent movie. Chaplin is the new Gervais, after all.
APPS ON YOUR WRIST
Annoying name aside, we like the look of the app-based i’m smartwatch, with its 1.55-inch sapphire glass touchscreen, 4GB of storage (that’s half a Kindle Fire) and cut-down version of Android. Bluetooth connectivity lets you pair it with your phone – there’s no other connectivity built in- so you can check emails, texts and contacts, make calls and, if you must, tell the time.
